Prenota Facile, Milan Questura: how to book an appointment

Prenota Facile is the State Police’s official portal (prenotafacile.poliziadistato.it) for booking an appointment at the Immigration Office of the police immigration office (Questura). In Milan it is used for some types of permit and for asylum applications, while most work and family permits still go through the postal kit. You register on the portal, choose the Milan Questura, the type of procedure and a free date.

What is Prenota Facile and who uses it?

It is the State Police’s online system for booking an appointment at the Immigration Office counter. The Milan Questura activated it on 22 July 2020 for two sectors: the one that issues permits (authorisation sector) and the refugees sector.

Both individuals and organisations (for example bodies and associations that help migrants) can register. With an appointment you do not have to queue outside the Questura: you go in at the set time.

Which permits use it in Milan?

On its page, the Milan Questura lists these among the services that can be booked:

• carta di soggiorno for family members of European Union citizens;
• permit for medical treatment;
• permit for minor care;
• documents for asylum seekers;
• electronic permits for subsidiary protection and special protection;
• travel documents for refugees and stateless persons;
• permits while waiting for the decision on an appeal.

The list can change: before booking, check the Milan Questura’s page. For most other permits (for example employed work, family reasons, EU long-term residence permit) the postal kit from authorised post offices is used instead. If you take the wrong route, you lose weeks.

How do I book on Prenota Facile, step by step?

1. Go to prenotafacile.poliziadistato.it (only this address).
2. Register with your details and an email address that you really check.
3. Choose the Milan Questura.
4. Choose the right type of procedure for your permit.
5. Choose a day and time among those available.
6. Print or save the booking receipt.
7. On the day of the appointment bring the originals and copies of the required documents and arrive on time.

A tip: write your name exactly as in your passport. A name written differently can cause problems at the counter.

How do I book an asylum application in Milan?

For people who want to apply for international protection, the Milan Questura has a dedicated page, updated on 2 September 2026. It lists:

• the “Procedure per la presentazione” (procedures for filing) service on Prenota Facile;
• a list of associations that help with booking, also for people without documents: in that case you must give your details and 2 passport-size photographs;
• from 17 April 2024 appointments may also be held at the police stations (Commissariati) of Sesto San Giovanni, Cinisello Balsamo, Rho-Pero and Legnano.

Vulnerable people. For people over 60 and pregnant women, the Questura indicates the AVSI Hub at Viale Monza 79, Milan, telephone 351 5735567, Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Other vulnerable people can write to the certified email (PEC) address shown on the same Questura page.

What if I cannot find free dates?

It often happens. Some practical tips:

• check several times, on different days and at different times: dates become free;
• do not use unofficial sites and do not pay anyone who “sells” you an appointment;
• if your permit is about to expire, keep proof of your attempts (for example screenshots showing the date): it may help to show it is not your fault;
• check that you chose the right type of procedure: sometimes you find no dates because you are searching in the wrong service.

If the situation is urgent (permit already expired, job at risk, appeal in progress), speak to a professional before more days pass.

After the appointment, how do I know if the permit is ready?

After the appointment you receive a case number. With that number (10 characters) you check the status on the official site questure.poliziadistato.it/stranieri.
